Solution 1: Repair Corrupted Windows Files

It’s important to ensure your Windows operating system is healthy before addressing any issues. Corrupted system files, missing DLL files, and outdated drivers can cause various problems on Windows, including the MS Office Activation error.

Solution 2: Try Again Later

Most of the time, this issue is temporary. Stay calm and restart your PC. Also, check for network problems such as a bad or unstable internet connection.

Solution 3: Check whether TLS 1.2 is enabled.

It is necessary to have TLS 1.2 activated for Microsoft Office 365 activation. If TLS 1.2 is not activated, you might encounter the above error message. Here’s how you can verify and activate TLS 1.2 on a Windows computer.

Step 1: Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box. Type “inetcpl.cpl” and press Enter. This will open the Internet Properties window.

Step 2: In the Internet Properties window, go to the “Advanced” tab. Scroll down to find the TLS protocols and enable all of them.

Step 3: Click the Apply → OK button to save your changes.

Solution 4: Sign out and Sign in again.

Step 1: Open any office app such as MS Word. Click on your profile picture → click on Sign out. Make sure to sign out from your Work or School account but not your personal account.

Solution 6: Temporary Disable Third-party antivirus

1: Disable Antivirus:

Sometimes, conflicts with third-party software, such as antivirus programs or firewalls, can interfere with the Windows Update process. Security software may block or disrupt the installation of updates, leading to the error code.

Step 1: Right click on the security program in the notification area.
Step 2: Select “Pause protection”.

2: Disable Windows Defender:

You can follow the steps to temporarily disable the Windows Defender.

Step 1: Click on the Start menu and search for the Windows security and open it.

Step 3: Scroll down to find the Virus & threat protection settings and click on Manage settings

Note: You must turn on these services manually otherwise your device will be vulnerable.

Solution 7: Turn Off Proxy Server.

Step 2: Turn off the ‘Automatically detect settings‘ and then click on the ‘Set up‘ button inside ‘Use a proxy server‘.

Step 3: Turn off the ‘Use a proxy server‘ and then click on the Save button.

Solution 8: Allow in Firewall

Your firewall might be blocking connections to Microsoft servers. Configure your firewall to allow access to the following links:

Alternatively, you can temporarily disable the Firewall while activating MS Office.
